This browser is unique because it can create websites and host them. It is a peer-to-peer browser that is decentralized and includes all the proper tools and features for getting started. There are no 3rd party components needed here either.
A couple of clicks is all it takes to share files and host websites with this app.
The two key components of Beaker for macOS are its decentralized P2P network (Dat) and its Chromium engine. Dat contains cryptography technology which lets the browser securely share and host projects without paying anything.
Basically, the browser allows you to create JS, CSS, and/or HTML websites. You can also add new files and use special URLs to share them. You can still browse the internet as normal.
Web APIs are available by the browser. They let you view, read, and write Dat archives from inside of one website. You can also do this with web apps if they won’t need remote services.
When you begin using the internet browser, you’ll notice the most impressive tools are hidden from the user interface. Look at the hamburger-style menu of the browser to find these tools and access them. In the main window, just look to the upper left, and you’ll find this section.
Create or Browse Websites
In the beginning, choose the option “New Site” and enter all relevant information. Use the Library section to access your websites and publish files to them.
The tool does a good job of sharing files. Just give the recipient of the files a bespoke URL for downloading them onto their computer. Other features include markdown rendering, live reloading, and forking a website.
Conclusion
The Beaker Browser project is definitely interesting on a lot of levels. It features a lot of innovative technologies and is quite user-friendly. These technologies make the browser one of the more versatile browsers available. However, it is not the most attractive or most customizable, either. In fact, it is not even fast. But most web developers still prefer this browser because of all its other features alone. And even if you don’t create websites, you can still use the browser for P2P file sharing.

Why is Beaker different?#
Beaker is built with Chromium and should feel exactly like any other Web browser. The big difference: Beaker can host websites.
Hosting a website is traditionally done by "servers" which are specialized computers in the cloud. Servers require a variety of skills to run, and while there are some great services out there to make it easier, we wanted to try something new. We figured, what if anybody could host a website from their laptop?
We call those self-hosted sites "Hyperdrives."
"Hyper" because they're kind of magical, and
"Drives" because they're collections of files.
It's not just a harddrive, it's a Hyperdrive!
You can create a Hyperdrive from Beaker, add your website's HTML, and then share the Hyperdrive link with any other Beaker user. Their computer will connect directly to yours, as if you were running a server up in the cloud.
What does Beaker do better than other browsers?#
Beaker makes building a Website weirdly easy. We have a builtin editor, tools to sync folders with your website, and some pretty fun APIs for reading and writing the files in your website.
If you're a teacher in a digital classroom, especially if you're teaching web development, Beaker is really handy. Your students don't need to learn Git, the commandline, or any other piece of server administration. They can download Beaker and get straight into the business of building Websites.
Dev teams may also find Beaker handy for working on site prototypes. All you have to do is load the prototype into Beaker and share the hyper:// link around the office. If somebody wants to make a change, they can fork the site and share their version back.
Beaker takes the drudge work out of hosting sites.

Staying updated
